Amanda Pellerin

When I was 15 my high school art teacher asked me to take a clay class. That class, and the mentorship of Mrs. Sabourin has guided my art making and teaching career for the past 3 decades. Being authentic, speaking from my truth, modeling craftsmanship, and giving each student the space and opportunity to be respected in the process of expressing oneself, these are the values I work towards.

I’ve returned to a studio practice to continue my work with the community through the creation of functional pottery and sculptural works. With the loss of in-person learning opportunities like artist residencies in schools (During the height of the Covid 19 Pandemic), I’ve had the opportunity to begin making my hand-made tile available to the public.

Deluxe mosaic tile kit for beginners, best value for family crafts.

mosaic tile kit

This DIY kit includes all the wonderful materials I’ve used to create murals with students in schools. A variety of rich hand-made materials, mosaic basics, and online instruction brings the artist-in-residence experience to you at your own pace.

Custom bird sculpture, 2020.

bird sculpture

My bird sculptures originated from a school residency. Students and I studied birds and their migration patterns. Birds are connected to nature but not restricted by country. Understanding birds can help humans relate to each other.

Handmade + commercial tile combined to complete wet-room design.

handmade tile

Handmade tile has the ability to transform a space. I’ve curated interesting tile I’ve made over the course of my 20+ year career. Create a striking impression by combining commercial and handmade tile in your next project.

my
purpose

Over the last two decades, I have collaborated with students through artist residencies in public and private schools all over Maryland. In addition to successfully completing many tile mural projects, I have also created professional development programming for educators to expand their teaching skills through arts integration both in school and online. My working method engages every participant at their own level with clear and achievable steps. Now my work meets people where they are through the instruction and facilitation of mosaic tile kit creation. Kits and workshop pricing vary. Please email me directly for more information.
