teaching artist expertise
artist residencies
In-school residencies start with an essential question that is created by the teaching team (core stem teachers) and myself. We use that essential question to brainstorm and generate ideas. Student research follows to construct a mural composition. I facilitate the transition from idea to reality, helping students develop the skills and tools to create their own strategic community art works.
professional development
When I do a PD with teachers, I bring my passion for learning through the arts to help teachers diversify their toolbox. Using clay is an easy and exciting way to open doors for kids to have AHA moments in traditional learning environments. I use Padlet to curate multiple resources under a variety of clay and ceramic topics from years of In-person professional development and teaching requests.
online education
I have created asynchronies lessons as resources for school age students and adult learners. The frequently asked questions from my teaching artist experience has inspired me to create an online resource guide as a place to begin. The Jumprope app. is a terrific resource for remote-online learning. I’ve created step-by-step video content to help students develop the fundamentals needed to create with clay.
